Khanh Hoa welcomes diverse international tourists

Khanh Hoa tourism is in its vibrant days. In addition to domestic tourists, international tourists to Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa continue to increase with tourists coming from many countries in the world…

On the central streets of Nha Trang City such as: Tran Phu, Hung Vuong, Nguyen Thien Thuat, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai… are always bustling with tourists, especially international tourists from Korea, China, Russia and Kazakhstan… Korean tourists often like to stroll around, explore the small corners of the city, stop at pretty little cafes to sip a cup of coconut milk or iced milk coffee with a strong Vietnamese flavor. Meanwhile, Russian and Kazakh tourists spend most of their time sunbathing on the beach, swimming in the clear blue water or lying on a deck chair sipping a cool coconut.

According to Cung Quynh Anh – Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the first 5 months of 2025, Khanh Hoa welcomed more than 2.23 million international visitors, an increase of nearly 11.4% over the same period last year. Notably, with the reopening of direct flights from Russia to Cam Ranh, the Russian and Kazakh tourist markets have grown remarkably. In addition, the Korean tourist market has maintained stable growth. According to the report, in 5 months, Khanh Hoa welcomed more than 1 million Korean visitors, an increase of 4.1% over the same period; 121,000 Russian visitors, up 192% over the same period; Kazakhstan visitors reached more than 52,650, up 30%; the number of Chinese visitors was nearly 298,000. In addition many tourists come from Western Europe, North America, Australia, Southeast Asia…

The high number of international visitors has brought Khanh Hoa a summer tourist season. At VinWonders Nha Trang, Nha Trang Tourist Wharf, Long Phu Tourist Wharf, etc. besides Vietnamese visitors, there are many international visitors booking tours. Famous tourist attractions such as Po Nagar Tower, Long Son Pagoda, Nha Trang Cathedral, Oceanographic Museum etc. always receive tourists. At night, the city lights up with night markets, walking streets, seafood restaurants bustling with music and attractive aromas. “The bustling atmosphere from morning to night, from the beach to the city center, is a clear demonstration of the growing appeal of the coastal city in the eyes of domestic and international tourists,” said Pham Minh Nhut, Chairman of Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Tourism Association.

The good growth of Khanh Hoa’s international tourist market is in the context of Vietnam’s increasingly high tourism position in the world. According to information from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Google’s market trend tracking tool shows that Vietnam is the only destination in Southeast Asia in the top 10 most searched destinations by tourists since the beginning of the year. In Agoda’s report on summer travel trends from Europe to Asia based on accommodation search data in July and August 2025, Vietnam is listed in the top 5 Asian destinations searched by European tourists in the summer of 2025. One of the destinations that international tourists often search for and choose is Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa.

Nguyen Duc Tan – General Director of Anex Vietnam Trading and Tourism Company Limited said that Khanh Hoa becomes a favorite destination for international tourists thanks to its diverse and attractive products; tourism infrastructure is increasingly invested in and developed synchronously, the expansion of direct flights connecting with major cities in the world … has created favorable conditions for tourists to access Khanh Hoa. In particular, the increasingly open visa and immigration policies are a bright spot in the eyes of international friends. This can be clearly seen through the growth of the Russian tourist market in recent times.

Khanh Hoa tourism is attracting international tourists, but for sustainable development, it also needs to be improved. Compared to many famous destinations in Thailand, Singapore… Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa still lacks night entertainment services, shopping, art shows… to keep visitors staying longer. In addition, the traffic infrastructure is not synchronous, often overloaded during peak season; tourism personnel (tour guides, hotel staff, restaurants …) are limited, especially foreign language skills. Some destinations still have the situation of overcharging and soliciting customers to buy goods. According to Pham Ha – CEO of Lux Group, for tourism to make a breakthrough, Khanh Hoa tourism needs a comprehensive strategy from enhancing experiences, developing products, promoting, improving infrastructure, protecting the environment.

According to the report of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the first 5 months of 2025, Khanh Hoa welcomed more than 4.6 million tourists, an increase of 19.3% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors reached more than 2.23 million, an increase of nearly 11.4% and domestic visitors reached nearly 2.4 million, an increase of 28.5%. Total tourism revenue reached nearly 23,652 billion VND, an increase of 18.2% over the same period last year.

According to information from Cam Ranh International Airport, in June 2025, the airport welcomed 32 international flights/day. Of which, there were 19 flights/day from Korea to Cam Ranh, the rest were flights from Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, etc.

Khanh Hoa: Impressive and colorful Culture and Sea Tourism Festival 2025

After nearly a month, the first edition of Culture and Sea Tourism Festival ended recently, leaving a good impression on local people and tourists. With nearly 40 activities ranging from cultural events, music programs, sports competitions, food festivals, environmental protection, etc., the 2025 Culture and Sea Tourism Festival is truly an appealing and colorful festival.

A festival for public

Culture and Sea Tourism Festival 2025 included a lot of activities designed for local people and tourists. The main stage of the main events and programs of the festival was designed and arranged mostly at 2-4 Square (Nha Trang Ciy) and Tran Phu Street in order to create a spacious space for locals and tourists to see the performances conveniently. It also helped to increase the connection and engagement between artists and spectators. This design and arrangement were well received and supported by the public via social media sites.

Satisfying the expectation, “Nha Trang Say Hi” concert, international cultural exchange program and carnival taking place on three nights of June 7, 8 and 9 provided truly festive atmospheres. “Nha Trang Say Hi” concert. “Nha Trang Say Hi” concert stirred the spectators with rousing performances of Vietnam’s well-known artists such as Isaac, Duc Phuc, Anh Khoa, Anh Tu, Lyly, Anh Duy, Vu Thinh, Satila Hong Vinh, Ngoc Khanh Chi, FB group BOIZ. The international cultural exchange program spotlighted the appealing music and fashion performances of Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe, Ninh Thuan Provincial Culture and Arts Center, Ulsan City’s art troupe (South Korea), Lorient City’s art troupe (France), and Miss Sea Island Vietnam 2025 beauties. The carnival featured 14 float cars decorated with images of 9 localities in Khanh Hoa Province, Ninh Thuan Province, and businesses and organizations in Khanh Hoa. The performances of international Miss Cosmo beauties and Miss Universe Vietnam beauties were also a highlight of the carnival. 

The 2025 Culture and Sea Tourism Festival also included many national and international level sports competitions organized with the desire to shape Khanh Hoa’s sea sports brand. In addition, there were many activities raising people’s awareness of environment protection, especially marine and island environment.

Sparking new ideas

The success of Culture and Sea Tourism Festival 2025 has sparked new ideas to organize festivals in the future. The support from the authorities and relevant units played an important role in the success of the festival. All of the main activities and events of the festival were broadcast live on Khanh Hoa Newspaper’s KTV channel. The working area for reporters and journalists was also located at convenient locations, facilitating the media and press reports of the press agencies in and outside the province. Security, order, fire safety and traffic safety, urban beautification, and environmental sanitation in the province, especially Nha Trang City were carefully carried out. During the 4 main days of Culture and Sea Tourism Festival 2025, Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa received about 667,000 tourists. Khanh Hoa’s lodging occupancy rates soared, reaching over 85%.

According to Dinh Van Thieu, Vice-chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, Culture and Sea Tourism Festival 2025 provided invaluable experience for the province to organize future festivals. For instance, Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa Tourism Association needs to play a greater role in encouraging the involvement of large hotels in the festivals. Localities with developed tourism and rich culinary culture need to organize large-scale, unique culinary and tourism activities.

Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa): top summer destination for Korean travelers

The coastal city of Nha Trang, Vietnam, has emerged as the most popular international destination for Korean tourists this summer, according to the Global travel platform Agoda. The city surpassed last year’s top pick, Tokyo, which has now dropped to second place. Accordingly, the 5 most searched destinations among Korean tourists are Nha Trang, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka (Japan) and Da Nang.

With South Korea experiencing unseasonably hot weather, more travelers are opting for early summer getaways. Ongoing global inflation is also influencing travel patterns, pushing demand toward nearby destinations that offer greater affordability and shorter flight times.

After the Covid-19 pandemic, South Korea has overtaken China to become the largest source of international tourists to Khanh Hoa. In 2024, the province welcomed about 4.8 million international tourist arrivals, including more than 2.4 million Korean visitors. In the first 5 months of 2025, Khanh Hoa received  more than 1 million visitors from South Korea, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%. Currently, 9 Vietnamese and Korean airlines are operating 19 flights/day from major cities in South Korea (Seoul, Busan, Daegu…) to Cam Ranh.

Anex Vietnam jointly with Vietjet to operate more flights from Russia to Cam Ranh

Anex Vietnam jointly with Vietjet has planned to expand its air service from 3 cities, namely Vladivostok, Blagovensk and Khabarovsk in Russia to Khanh Hoa from June 15 with 6 flights/ week.

Earlier, Anex Vietnam jointly with Rusian airliners had operated 10 flights/ week from 10 cities, namely Moscow, Barnaul, Blagoveshchensk, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Tomsk and Novokuznetsk to Cam Ranh.

Therefore, Anex Vietnam is going to have 16 flights/week from 11 cities in Russia to Cam Ranh. From May to September 2025, Anex Vietnam will bring about 57,000 Russian travelers together with  20,500 visitors from Kazakhstan to Cam Ranh.

The Russian tourist market has seen significant growth. In the first 4 months of 2025, Khanh Hoa welcomed 80,642 Russian visitors, a year-on-year increase of 146%. Other tour operators such as Pegas Misr Vietnam Travel Co., Ltd., Amega General Trade and Tourism Co., Ltd., have also signed contracts with Russian airlines to bring visitors to Khanh Hoa. Russian national airline Aeroflot has launched a commercial flight route from Russia to Cam Ranh with 2 flights/week.

Red Wings Airlines’ first flight from Russia in Khanh Hoa

Fun and Sun Vietnam Co., Ltd., in coordination with Cam Ranh International Airport and related agencies organized a ceremony at Cam Ranh International Airport on May 12 to welcome the first flight of Red Wings Airlines from Kazan City (Russia) to Khanh Hoa. Present at the ceremony were leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and representatives of related agencies.

Russian tourists are excited to explore Khanh Hoa through tours organized by Fun and Sun Vietnam Co., Ltd.

Upon landing, the flight was greeted with a water salute together with flowers and souvenirs to passengers and crew from the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, airport representatives and travel agencies.

Fun and Sun Vietnam Co., Ltd., in partnership with Red Wings has operated flights from Kazan, Moscow, Krasnoyarsk and Yekaterinburg to Khanh Hoa since May 2025 with 4-5 flights/week and expected to bring about 8,000 Russian visitors/month to Khanh Hoa.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Red Wings is the fifth Russian airline to operate direct flights to Khanh Hoa, alongside Azur Air, Aeroflot, Ir Aero Airlines and Ikar Airlines.

In April 2025 alone, Khanh Hoa welcomed approximately 31,500 Russian visitors, up by 30.7% compared to March. In the first 4 months of the year, the province attracted more than 80,600 Russian travelers, 2.5 times higher than the same period in 2024.

Khanh Hoa to host 2025 Sea Tourism and Culture Festival in June

The central coastal province of Khanh Hoa announced that the 2025 Sea Tourism and Culture Festival, themed ‘Nha Trang Says Hi!’, will be held in June.

The program will feature a wide range of nearly 40 cultural and sports activities, which are scheduled to take place in Nha Trang City and localities in the province, including main events that will be held on June 7-9.

The 2025 Sea Tourism and Culture Festival serves as a replacement for the 11th Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Sea Festival, which was originally scheduled for the same period, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Van Nhuan said at a press conference on May 9.

Highlights of the festival include a concert on the evening of June 7 with the participation of young singers, a flower car parade on Tran Phu Street at 4 p.m. on June 9, and a music performance on the evening of June 8 with the participation of international art troupes from South Korea, India, and France.

Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, Dinh Van Thieu, said that it is an opportunity for the province to introduce the unique culture of the “land of agarwood and the sea of bird’s nest,” promote its image, potential, and strengths, and stimulate tourism, contributing to achieving the growth targets for 2025. The local authorities hoped that Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa would become a destination for regular cultural, sports, and tourism events.

Reportedly, from now to May 2025, Pegas Misr Vietnam Travel Company, Ltd. jointly with Ikar Air will operate 25 flights from Russia to Khanh Hoa. The number of flights will continue to increase in the following months. Russian travelers will stay at 4-5 star hotels and resorts for 10-12 days, some for up to 28 days.

The cruise tourists can explore such attractions as Ponagar Temples, a special national monument; Hon Chong, VinWonders Nha Trang; take island tours and enjoy numerous entertainment services such as diving and mud bath.

Marshall Islands-flagged Regatta cruise ship bringing 5,00 passengers together with over 400 crew called at Cam Ranh International Port on April 18.

Pegas Misr Vietnam Travel Company to bring Russian tourists back to Khanh Hoa

Pegas Misr Vietnam Travel Company, Ltd. has cooperated with Ikar International Airlines of Pegas Touristik Group to operate charter flights for tourists from Russia to Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa.

Accordingly, Pegas Misr Vietnam Travel Company, Ltd. jointly with Ikar Air will operate flights on Boeing B777-200 with 370-400 passengers/ flight. Russian travelers will stay at 4-5 star hotels and resorts for 10-12 days, some for up to 28 days.

Russian tourists love warm weather all year round in Khanh Hoa.

The first flight departing from Khabarovsk Novy International Airport is expected to land at Cam Ranh International Airport on April 18. More direct flights are scheduled from Irkutsk to Cam Ranh from May.

In March, Khanh Hoa welcomed 24,000 Russian visitors, a year-on-year increase of more than 154%. With the increasing number of flights, Russian visitors to Khanh Hoa will continue to rise in the coming time.

Honoring Khanh Hoa’ aloeswoood traditional industry

Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Sea Festival 2025 will feature aloeswoood festival for the first time. This aims to honor Khanh Hoa Province’ aloeswoood traditional industry as well as provide data for the documents of the intangible cultural heritage namely “Folk Knowledge – Khanh Hoa traditional aloeswoood industry”.

Aiming to promote the images of the country and Khanh Hoa people in close relationship with aloeswoood; honor and introduce the cultural and historical values of Khanh Hoa, the land of aloeswoood, to domestic and international tourists; and strengthen the position and brand of Khanh Hoa aloeswoood, Khanh Hoa Province Aloeswoood Association has proposed the organization of the aloeswoood festival.

As stated by Bien Quoc Dung, head of Khanh Hoa Aloeswoood Association, the aloeswoood festival 2025 is part of a series of events celebrating the cultural heritage of aloeswoood and Thien Y A Na Holy Mother. Therefore, the festival will be solemnly organized with traditional rituals and ceremonies, along with introduction of the aloeswoood industry. Additionally, the festival will feature traditional values such as studiousness, respect for teachers, filial duty, and kindness, which is expected to raise young people’s awareness of responsibilities towards communities. 

The aloeswoood festival takes place at National Monument of Am Chua (Dien Khanh District), Special National Monument of Ponagar Temple; Provincial Museum, Cu Huan Street (Nha Trang City) from June 3 to 9. The main activities of the festival include incense offering at Am Chua Monument; aloeswood offering and aloeswood procession, flower lanterns floating joined by 1,000 people and 10 unicorn, lion and dragon dance teams; display and introduction of aloeswoood products; demonstration of aloeswoood processing; honoring typical aloeswoood businesses and artisans.

Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, on January 3, issued an official document approving the proposal of the Department of Culture and Sports (now the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism) to prepare documents for proposing “Folk Knowledge – Khanh Hoa traditional aloeswoood industry” as national intangible cultural heritage.
