“This year, we are proud to witness a rise in the number of starred restaurants, driven by a new generation of talented chefs. Many are returning to their roots, using modern techniques to tell stories of their hometowns and to revive childhood flavors,” said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guides.
“For our inspectors, the journey of discovering new restaurants in Viet Nam remains as exciting as ever. They have been inspired by the dedication, creativity, and pursuit of excellence shown by culinary professionals across the country – and they are eager to uncover even more gems in the years to come”, he added.

Viet Nam’s diverse geography shapes a rich culinary landscape, from the rice fields of the north to the fisheries of the Mekong Delta and the spice-laden inland mountains. Regional techniques -such as fermentation in the north and drying or salting along the coasts – give Vietnamese cuisine its distinctive character, the website of Michelin Guide states.
A new generation of chefs is reimagining tradition through modern storytelling, while street vendors and long-standing eateries continue to preserve the country’s culinary heritage. The dining scene moves at its own pace, with small, character-filled venues gradually gaining recognition and cultural value.

In the Michelin system, one star signifies a very good restaurant, two stars mean excellent cooking that is worth a detour, and three stars mean exceptional cuisine that is worth a special journey. According to the Michelin Guide website, there are over 3,000 Michelin-starred restaurants in nearly 40 different countries.
